Dr. Fell

My brother and I went to the doctor to get shots when he was five and I was seven. It took a doctor, a nurse, and my mother to physically restrain him for that purpose.
I do not like thee, Dr. Fell
The reason why I cannot tell
But this I know and know full well
I do not like thee, Dr. Fell.

The Owl and the Pussycat

Hope this gives everyone a lift on this unsettling day.

The owl and the pussycat went to sea
In a beautiful pea green boat.
They took some honey and plenty of money
Wrapped up in five pound note.

Old Man with a Beard

There was an old man with a beard
Who said it is just as I feared
Two owls and a hen,
Four larks and a wren
Have all built their nests in my beard

I have had the experience of studying a dragonfly which was toggling its head back and forth, apparently trying to comprehend the large mass which had obscured its light. This design is available in t shirt and print form at redbubble

I had finished this piece a couple of hours before I heard from my nephew Robert, who had remembered after a couple of months the song he showed me on YouTube. To see and hear the synchronicity, go HERE.

Available in print and t-shirt form on redbubble.

I had meant to do some pleasant image with an island (for illustration friday) but the political climate fills me with such dread. These lines from Wallace Stevens' Description without Place rise in my mind:

His mind raised up, down-drowned, the chariots.

And reaches, beaches, tomorrow's regions became
One thinking of apocalyptic legions.

The Travelling Crystal

From Laynie Browne's The Scented Fox

The Travelling Crystal

There you stood at the top of the stairs, the found sentence or the found bedroom. Where had she placed the travelling crystal?

Dressed like a portrait, there you stood at the top of ordeals of every kind. I kept opening the page to 'morning and evening star,' and the refrain kept repeating, unneccesary noise harms the countryside.
