I visited Torcello in the Venetian lagoon a few years back. What is so compelling about ruins? Is it their ambiguity, that leaves the past as unknown as the future? Venice itself seemed to me like a place half-remembered in its elusive familiarity.

I lived in Italy and FAILED to visit Venice. dern.
Hi Susan,
Thanks for coming by my website - I spent a lot of time in Italy this year, and spent a week in Venice. What an amazing place! We found it just so incredibly beautiful. I'm off to have a good look at your site now, with a lovely cup of tea!
Best Wishes,
Liz
