Last night I dreamed I had a salamander as a sort of familiar, which had instead of a mouth the nib of an old-fashioned pen. It was so small, to be carried on the body (for inspiration?). Noting its absence, I found its nib separate and crushed, and then the creature itself, fragile with its torn mouth. I ordered that another nib be made, which needed time and craftsmanship, and told it to be patient, that it would be mended. Apparently all things are possible in alchemy.

that sound like such an interesting dream!
In my considered opinion, if a lizard can grow back a limb or a tail, a dream salamander (a red one, at that) will certainly grow back/get back a nib-mouth in record time.
cheers from Graulhet.
Very interesting...hope this familiar can be mended, yes?
And Alice did finally manage an appearance :) THo' not wot I expected...

i am back , i am glad .
and the other posts are great !!!
thanks .
Haha, gotta love alchemy! At least your dream, despite some of it's difficulties, was farmore pleasant than mine. What a fine drawing by the way. Soon the little critter will be off drawing away once again!
Makes me think of the protected salamander reservoir in the grazing land near my house. I often past these fellows’ dam, but I have never seen any of them, only movements on the water surface.
So there reallu is something elusive and dreamlike about these animals.
Alchemy.... A favourite subject. A beautiful post Susan.
He is gorgeous - fantasticly yummy colour.
Now you can write with it! It's so great that you can illustrate your dreams. The salamander is very pretty.
Thank you all very much. Believe me, it's not like this every night.
Awesome, what a wonderfully weird dream. Is the salamander dipped in ink before writing?
I've said it before: Less Cheese.
The illustration is gorgeous.
Titus - if it were that simple, it would be all cheese, all the time - peyote not needed.
Love the illustration.
Yours is an alchemist soul, Susan.
oh, gosh, don't get me started....
what a wonderful dream!
I WANT ONE!
