The Hungry I Club is of course where Lenny Bruce performed, now dedicated like the rest of this block to places where you can see disrobed ladies (euphemism to deflect spam from comments). Humphrey Bogart in the Window of the Grand Lake Smoke Shop, next door to the Grand Lake Theatre (you can see the awning on the left in the linked photo). Bogart worked for a number of years as a gangster in B-movies before being cast as Sam Spade in The Maltese Falcon. The next series of posts, which will start in July, will feature a few scenes each from various Noir films, mostly in San Francisco. The Lost series will end with a bang (for now) on Tuesday.
Rousseau has been trapped on the island for sixteen years, which perhaps entitles her to bad hair days (you will have to click for detail to see how very bad, apologies to Edward Lear). She likes to trap people in nets which are baited with a seemingly infinite supply of baby dolls.
Sometimes food is dropped from above by the mysterious Others...but some people (Hurley for one) just don't like sushi. Link to song with the word "Hurley" in it because I think this singer is much better-looking than Bono, even if he was raised in Campden Town so not properly Irish. 
Jin is the son of a fisherman, and Sun seems to have a green thumb, both of which are very helpful to the castaways before the discovery of food inside the hatch and the food drop (see tomorrow's post). Yup, they have secrets from each other. In the basket, two fish and an operatic sea urchin (NOT a space alien*).

Due to poor social skills, Sawyer remains in the pit for some time after Michael and Jin have been released. Note bullet hole in arm - you can see it even better if you click on the picture. I couldn't find video for this, just a photo. The photo is actually kind of wistful looking.

Sometimes, if you're trapped on an island, you need to pummel some fruit to relieve stress.
This is the image from a few days ago reworked for a T design, now on redbubble. I wonder if people will be less taken with this version - I just can't bring myself to put a photographic image on a t-shirt. Anyway, if you click on it you can make it bigger, for a better comparison. Hope the weekend was good to you.
Here is ...something. It's about 6 inches high, and is either a small conversation piece (do they still have conversation pieces?) or a rather baroque pincushion. It is jumping into a box tomorrow to be send off to Made4Aid, a new auction site to raise money for charity (Darfur at the present time) which was dreamed up by a couple of bloggers. If you would like to contribute an art piece to the site, there are directions for doing so there - they are interested in a lot of different kinds of things, although no chandeliers, please. You may also may purchase art work there if you are so inclined. There is a more extensive post about Made4Aid by one of the masterminds here.
Michael regains his son unexpectedly, only to end up pursuing him as Walt disappears repeatedly into the jungle. Walt is one of the characters singled out as special, but due to the actor's propensity for growing in real time past his character's age, he appeared less frequently after the first season.
The plot unfolded,
Charlie and John return victorious. The banana put up quite a fight, as you can tell from the bruising. Photo taken on Claremont Avenue, opposite the Star Grocery, which is a wonderful old family-owned establishment.
I had some cooperation from Bosco with this shot, but the request for more than one take was greeted with a sit-down strike.
Sometimes the castaways must dream about what they can't get on the island, I'm sure Hurley isn't the only one who probably misses Brownies. Very non-canonical, to tie in with the Illustration Friday prompt "Craving". The sale results were so-so, but a neighbor came by and told us about a group sale going on in a neighborhood with more foot traffic in a month. 
In this scene, John is sucked into a hole by a mysterious force, something which does not upset him particularly, but which Jack is unable to deal with. He throws dynamite down the hole, releasing John.
Yours truly will be participating in a garage sale tomorrow, mostly selling plates and oddments suitable for mosaic purposes - or even for food purposes. I wanted to let my local readers know, not for sales purposes so much as to say if you are in the neighborhood (ie, Santa Rosa and Jean in Oakland, between 9:30 and 2:00, hope you will stop by and say hello to my neighbor Faith and self. The above is not for sale, just for looking at. But I am planning to go to Trader Joe's for brownie mix shortly. Rain cancels.
Sayid, as played by Naveen Andrews, can make a transmitting device out of two toothpicks and a potato (or in this case, an old music box)- however, due to the electromagnetism, or phlogiston, of the island, it never does the slightest good in getting the castaways rescued. This character has forever changed the face of geekdom...now you can be nerdy and be one very badass dude (strangling villains with your toes, etc.).
I realized that not everyone who reads this blog watches "Lost", so I'm going to provide explanations for the scenes (Only the creators can explain the whole thing...and don't get me started on the four-toed statue).
