Who are the people in the photograph, and where are they? Who was here before they came, and where did they go? Does anything live on, hidden, underneath? I am reading a book called 1491, about the Americas before the Europeans came. The Western hemisphere may have been more populous than the Eastern - there was simply no immunity to the diseases that came with the Europeans.

Disease has shaped the history of the world far more than one might think.
Ruínas de São Miguel, in the South of Brazil, near Santo Ângelo?
Cláudia- The tower is similar in proportion, but these ruins are in greater disrepair. There are soldiers in the foreground and a man in civilian dress in the background, all appear to be of African ancestry.
I m thinking much of that time and allways I have that question "where are the indians " didn t shaw some...lok at www.kalosreise.blogspot.com, there is something about Plymouth Plantation and pilgrims landing....
I think the Indians , their souls are living inside of the eagles...it s my feeling...my dreaming... I saw a lot og eagles at USA
have a nice time Kathrin
That's odd! I saw the humpy bit behind the people as a giant bufalo charging the tower... the power of suggestion?... cool picture!
It's all a bit blurred and fuzzy but to me they look like a bunch of GI's in Italy in WWII, where there are many such towers.
PR- I know that there were Army divisions during the Second World War composed entirely of black soldiers, but this does not explain why the man (possibly two men) in plainclothes appears to be of African descent. Could this be somewhere in the Northern part of Africa?
watercats-
Interesting, the visual confusion is usually between the rabbit's ears and the duck's bill - water buffalo, hmmm...
dunno--they all seem fairly calm despite the flowing seedheads and giant rabbit ears...perhaps they do not see them
Tom- are they calm ? They seem a bit wonderstruck, or at least bemused, and one of them is turning as if he has just heard something.
They came looking for Kentucky fried Chicken, they found ruination, despair and a large red rabbit.Amazonian dandelions threaded their way like tapeworms through the carcas of the building, a viking longship paddled the air. This wasn't all good, but it wasn't all bad either, it was a curate's egg of a situation.
Love this one - reminds me of a curious sea anemone.
Heavens! I've been back twice before to look at this piece, and I just now noticed that the red in the background is a rabbit's head in silhouette. Way cool, Susan.
Wow, very evocative and dreamy.
this is excellent!
