The Child Raised by Wolves

One of a small ( they are 5" high by 3 inches wide) series of nine curiosities I made by affixing bits of nature found on the ground to antique photos. Four more from the series on Tinytheatre.

On gerdiary, Heike is participating in an interesting memorial project. Those who enjoy stitching- or gluing- might want to add their own wings.

The Enchanted Cravat

I showed this to a gallery owner, we were speculating as to whether the curls were placed in to this beautiful young man's hair (by spitcurling?), or whether most of his hair was flattened and only the curls at front left in their natural state. Can you see Johnny Depp in him?

By the way, has anyone seen Cairo Time? Mina insists that this is not about a romance or sexual attraction, but about a certain intimacy in communicating which doesn't exist in the West. I'm interested in opinions...

Sisters of the Wind

East of the Sun and West of the Moon

I like this compass on Bee Creative, reminded me I could sew my own.

And this image on Gerdiary is another sort of compass.

....

Off topic: I see an ad on my site meter - KFC is now contributing to breast cancer research. The slogan? "Every bucket makes a difference". I'll bet.

Anthropo #$$%^@*

Contains language!

Two headlines I saw recently on the web:
Scientists have trouble predicting volcano behavior
and
Stocks try to rise after selloff

Does this make anyone else mean mad, I mean attributing motivation to non-humans? It makes anthropomorphic projection seem written into the language. A little humility would do the race some good in my opinion. More rantiness about human projection on Horizons of Significance if you are still hungry for opinion on this.

For those of you who want to consider the question of how to define what a good life is in the internet age, there's a new blog, From the Perspective of Infinity.

Tomorrow, Under the Garden.

What's Your Tribe?

How do you recognize members? Does your tribal identity shift or fray? How much is culturally based and how much is values based?

Actually, don't feel obliged to respond to ALL of that...just been thinking about it recently.
