Descent
For film buffs in particular, there is a post about racial and gender strereotyping in film/television followed by some very thoughtful comments at Razored Zen.

A Little Bird Told Me (Commissioned Work)
Do let me know if you are interested in commissioning one of your own...the next one I am doing is a wedding photo, very excited about that. I'm treating these differently than the ones I do for myself, they're softer, and of course I assume people don't want the faces hidden. Thursday I'll be posting another altered photo of a child, this one more in the usual mode.

Tears of a Legend
Here's the final version of a piece I posted as a work in progress - I ended up cutting out a piece from a Chinese Checkers board and gluing it over her eyes. Just in the city today, taking my work around in the Mission district. One of the stores I visited was Viracocha, whose owner sells interesting salvaged and reconstituted home furnishings to fund small-scale artistic productions, music and poetry, in the downstairs. Very sweet. I had been sent there by one of the proprietors of the Curiosity Shoppe, another wonderful Mission enterprise.
