If life were always like that, it wouldn't feel like that. Besides, it would be kitsch.
And yet, I have a sneaking envy for this china bunny.
For those who don't know the Dorothy Parker verse:
Oh, life is a glorious cycle of song,
A medley of extemporanea;
And love is a thing that can never go wrong;
And I am Marie of Romania.
No current romantic disappointments, just fits....

ho ho ho
and a couple of tra la la's
that's how we laugh the day away . . .
just musing on this subject myself
(without the charming addition of the china bunny)
A match made in junk shop heaven
the swan and the pussy cat sailed for seven
days
then floundered on the
rock of their own limitation.
They were, after all,
just a (beyond the) pale immitation.
TFE- Yes, it's a very satisfying match. The swan was made in occupied Japan, so If the bunny was made here it was an unlikely meeting.
Oh, say it could be so!
The bunny in ecstatic joy. Wonderful.
When will the next swan take off?
Have to explain this sentence. In a Wagner opera, Lohengrin was to ride a swan. But the stage workers pulled it off too soon, so it crossed the stage empty, and the singer (Leo Slezak) was left behind, which inspired him to ask the above question. True story.
Cracking up ... oh to be like bunny ...
My Senior year in high school (you know, a hundred years ago - or the 1980s as we like to call them) I had to pick a writer to do a final term paper on. I picked Dorothy Parker and that is probably the only short poem I know by heart! I love her.
A bit like I can't resist Disney!
Extemporanea... Good word.
All I can say about the cat in the swan, is it reminds me of fairgrounds, and word association blings up bad dream like fairground music...
The foliage however, is sublime :)
There's a story behind this one. I used to tell my son stories about his stuffed animals all the time.
great!
Today, I would be so I would not mind being told kitsch!!
You know that plant here called "cat's tongue?
there do not know.
Nice poem, but I'm not agree with the third part! ;)
It is always wrong,I think.

but just a moment to bask in the sun among the sage... that would not be kitsch.

If I believed in a "next life" here on Earth, I'd turn in a request slip to be the china rab.
...or the swan. I easily envy them both.
relieved about the lack of romantic disappointments
not that the bunny looks as though she would care, either way...
