Before the Storm

This is an illustration from a few years back for an article about how animals often sense a storm on its way for a magazine in Florida. We're in for some rain here in the coming week.

Pretty/Lucky

A neighbor who was moving out gave me three silk damask curtains which I put through the wash (the curtains were in my car when it was stolen and I wanted to wash the robbers' cigarette smoke smell out). Only one of them frayed in this amazing way - that is, the bird is from the Antique Centre, but don't you love those ravels?

Attitude Adjustment

Well, I guess I'm dedicating this one to Barbara Ehrenreich, whose latest book The Bright Side I have not read. Yes, there are worse problems in the world.

Edit: I just had quite an adventure, was going to post it now, but as I am getting some interesting comments on this post I think I will wait . So, tomorrow I'll be posting about a local Steampunk Enterprise. Bird Boat returns

Here is a version of the bird boat from an earlier post, worked into a t-shirt design for redbubble.  I'm hoping to do some linking to interesting projects tomorrow, I ran out of time today, there is definitely a learning curve with shooting the little Hamlet scenes.

J. at waiting room aquarium sent me a lovely mixtape compilation, also in the package were some other delightful things, among them the little piece of paper above at right with the drawing of the boat and the words "bird" and "boat" stamped on it. The overlay is my drawing inspired by it which will probably be turned into...well, the usual. One of the songs on the tape J. sent me is Vincent O'Brien, by M. Ward, an artist who eerily resembles another older artist, both musically and a little in appearance too, I think. Tell me what you think, if you feel so inclined.

I should mention that there's more than a little influence from Shaun Tan's wonderful book "The Arrival" in the above.

Holiday Bird Card

I am getting a small run of this greeting card printed for friends and relatives. It's a variation on an earlier illustration. The final will fold to 4" x 5", the inside will simply say "Happy Holidays". If anyone would like to order some, let me know - you can send me a check.
