Pretty/Lucky

A neighbor who was moving out gave me three silk damask curtains which I put through the wash (the curtains were in my car when it was stolen and I wanted to wash the robbers' cigarette smoke smell out). Only one of them frayed in this amazing way - that is, the bird is from the Antique Centre, but don't you love those ravels?

Here are some beautiful locations on the internet:

The uses of unravelling on SpiritCloth

Unravelling a riddle elsewhere

Cystalline ravels on Ruhezone

and on Spirithelpers

Unravelled at the recital on Oort Cloud

Unravelling beliefs at how to be god

Binding nature's ravels on art that's felt

Textiles look so beautiful, even when distressed. If they start to unravel with use, you could always nuno felt them. Now that would be beautiful...

The frays are beautiful. A happy accident!

Okay, I'm a junk thief not a car or horse thief, so I am not a suspect. However, perhaps the resulting ravels on that drape may have made the incident worthwhile. Lovely!

I have a partiality to pink (amongst other colours of course!) so I LOVE this image. At first I thought the little bird had shredded the fabric!

Beautiful colour & textures! Yum. Hope your car wasn't trashed?

ArtSparker said...

Ginga, it wasn't, they just borrowed it for a few hours. I ended up having as much of a gripe with the police, who chose not to tell me it was in the impound lot until it had run up some hefty storage fees.

In my reader thumb pic I thought this was part of a shorn tree, 'til I opened up and saw the pic as a whole. Splendid :)

Very inspiring blog!

Love the color...wonderful texture. I love "organic" but I say "free style" edges and unravelings. Thank you for the link.

1)The photo is sooo beautiful, Susan!

2)Jasmine's sentence "Textiles look so beautiful, even when distressed." is pure poetry.

3) Interesting links, as usual, specially that one for LOST fans. It's spoilers free and very amusing! I am so anxious about season 6!

I LOVED all that. I followed Scott's link to LOST Underground Art Show and had a lot of fun going through the posts there. Thank you for the tip!
