An old engraving in my host's house in London...of course it made me think of the damsel with a dulcimer in Colerdige's poem. Note the many pear/paisley/yin-yang curves of the figure and the instrument, echoed in the lilies in the background, circling around to meet each other.

On her side, a strange object (vegetal, mineral?) with a point reminiscent of an arrow's point.

the colors are thrilling - i don't think I've ever encounter "soft" like this...

I guess she is meant to be Turkish. The instrument is a saz.
