Photographed at the carousel in Golden Gate Park. This is the one I had with me, he seemed to match the background. The Garden flew round with the angel,
And the angel flew round with the clouds,
And the clouds flew round and the clouds flew round
And the clouds flew round with the clouds.
– from "The Pleasures of Merely Circulating", Wallace Stevens
More directional challenges: Just returned from the grocery store, where black vinyl turkey footprints leading to the poultry section have been adhered to the floor. It created a brainstorm as they looked to me just like black arrowheads urging the shopper out of the store (try drawing it if this doesn't make sense).

We're al flying! I like the cut of this drummer, could he make it to the poteen party on Thursday?
Oh, I like the whole carnival feel of this. Very cheering.
I love it-I've always had a weird fascination with circuses, carnivals and amusement park rides!
Michael - One thinks of Neil Young's "Sugar Mountain"
What a privilege to ride a sea-horse. To the sound of this drum -- that's even better.
Nice one! Such a great slice of the entire 'there'. -J
cheers, Susan. The workload is a bit crazy over here these days. Not blog hopping much these days. Thanks for your ongoing support.
Always nice to see a drummer going at it with some enthusiasm.
Your seemingly random comment about those turkey tracks also works well with the title. Somehow I suspect that you are a bit of a "different drummer" yourself.
That is a beautiful (and slightly strange) carousel.
Bee, yes there was a bit of synchronicity in the turkey track encounter...not to mention that the next meetup of my philosophy group is about if something can be true and not true.
Not sure they'd fool anyone with those turkey footprints. I know they're not the brightest of birds but I think even they would avoid the poultry store...
I love this post.
"black vinyl turkey footprints"
Brilliant!
Thanks for sharing.
I've been hanging around your blog long enough to begin to recognize some of your cast of characters.
Very interesting and whimsical blog. Loved the anticipation as I scrolled down to see what was next. Cool stuff! Great imagination.
We have a carousel museum in Oregon--you would have a field day there!
This is like a combination of the beat of a different drummer and a horse of another color.
and turkey footprints? I don't even know what to say about that.
Yep, got to love Stevens. I like different drummers too.
i try to imagine you taking this photo on the floor in fornt of lots of people .
must to be really funny .
thank God the final resul is fantastic .
What a beautiful carousel! And what a handsome drummer! Love him.
I do love the background! It works well with the drummer. I can imagine him drumming his way off into the crowd, weaving between feet.
