It's a shame this guy never got to play Hamlet, I think he might have wiped the floor with Lawrence Olivier (sorry, Brits). The film is still very moving, though plot holes aplenty. I believe I would like to pursue the paper characters thing and I'm thinking of scenes from "Rebel without a cause" and other classics (I'd definitely get Bogart in there). Anybody got any favorites?

This man has the most lecherous gaze I've seen in long time. It rivals Edward Gorey!
Nicholas-
I was kind of aiming for sensitive and suffering. But it's nice to be compared with Edward Gorey, so I guess I'll take what I can get.
Oh, sorry. I meant no offence to you or Mr. Dean. :]
imitation of life
a street car named desire
three faces of eve
the wizard of oz
darn! you really caught me off guard...i'm doing the pause/think thing...anyway, these are a quick roll of the top...
flaws - I have definitely been thinking about Tennessee williams.
Great caricature, very recognizable!
no offence taken by this brit., he might well have done
Buster Keaton is one of my all-time favs. His white powdered face lends itself to drawing. Hey, that's it! Now I want to draw Buster. Why didn’t I think of that before? I'm glad we had this conversation.
Btw, did you notice we were next door neighbors on IF this week?

Nice style!
Olivier was a ham so no offence taken! My favourite image of Dean was the photo in the rain in Time Sq by Dennis Stock. Other actors to continue the theme... yes Bogart (Maltese Falcon), then what about Peter Lorrie (also the Maltese Falcon)... Cary Grant in North by Northwest... Henry Fonda in the perfect 12 Angry men... Newman & Redford in the Butch and Sundance end shot... Monroe in the Misfits (Check out all the Magnum photos for that film!!!) Grace Kelly in Rear Window... blah...blah... I could go on and on! Would love the see your take on other famous silver screen stars!
The trademark jacket, hairstyle and intense gaze all reminiscent of Rebel Without a Cause. Nice! He looks a little amused :)
I like a lot this drawing.
What a fun project. Laurence of Arabia comes to mind. Outstanding illustration.
I love your James Dean. His red shirt would match perfectly with the necklace that bears his name.. ;)
