Crazy Heart (two of our finest blue-eyed actors)

What a terrific film. I had been wanting to see it since I heard it paired Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal, and it did not dispappoint. A tear, a smile, a lot of laughter. I saw this with my sister and my father, who seemed to be mystified about an attractive 30-year-old woman would see in someone withe "issues" the Jeff Bridges character had. For me, not a problem. Who's with me here?

Also, I can't resist linking to Seth Godin's post today: The hidden power of a gift.
Just about to take off for the family outing, so it will be a little while before I post new comments, but definitely interested in your opinions.

Yes, he has an infectious smile. He looks like that old C&W singer that is in all the Johnny Cash documentaries now though. Still adorable for his age.

Haven't seen it, but I've liked him since The Fisher King, a movie close to my heart.

That movie sounds much like Tender Mercies, anther movie close to my heart.

Jasmine - some of us would think, more adorable. He has an essential sweetness, as Sigourney Weaver has an essential honesty.

Clowncar - Robert Duvall is in Crazy Heart, and was also a producer.

"...some of us would think, more adorable." - Yeah!!

Against all Odds he remained Fearless when he saw King Kong.

The Mirror has Two Faces, maybe that's why Starman had a Crazy Heart.

Oh, and I love that hue of blue of his shirt - gorgeous!

oh I have NO problem with it whatsoever..because I was and am very partial to the older man. Can't help it! It all began when I was a kid and fell in love with Spencer Tracy. Your drawing with the hearts here is very engaging. The look they are giving one another...tres charming!

After The Big Lebowski Bridges can do no wrong in my book.

I like both actors very much, so I'd like to see the movie. If they do what they do well, then any "questions" about young/old entanglements [yeah, you said "entanglements" Rick, don't back down!] will be resolved.
I highly doubt that Jeff Bridges is broke or anything, but he seems (to me) a bit under-recognized. I mean, he's only just entering his "hack" phase (Iron Man). He's been around for, like, forever! (I'm not knocking hacks at all--every great actor has to be one, usually after everyone has recognized him (yeah, mostly "hims") as a great actor. It should be a job requirement, actually. Or maybe it is...

Rick - It's almost a truism that Jeff Bridges, because of the quietness of his performances, is under-appreciated.
