It's our old friend Alice...The White Knight is encountered in the sequel to Alice in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass. Another treatment of Alice and the White Knight here, and a preview of my Alice book on blurb here.I'm linking this to the March 26 Illustration Friday, the whole White Knight concept...

"Hello young lady, is this the way to the Great Orme?"
(Orme = dragon)
It was on the Orme that Alice worked in a hotel. Lewis took her for walks. The rest is history.
The Orme is in Wales.
Remarkable detail here, Susan! And "Blurb"? Not privy...is that similar to Red Bubble or Lulu?
Absolutely the right background for the meeting between Alice and the Knight!
i like all the bits and bobs attached to the saddle
the friends I gave your Alice calendar to were both so delighted with it
I was missing Alice - you do her so well!
I love the little knight next to the horses hind. Your Alice in Nature shots are always pleasing :)
love how you mix the medias!!
Love Alice, love the Knight, but infatuated by the horse and his tack. Brilliant! Roccinante reborn.
Titus -Most of the things on the horse are mentioned by Carroll and faithfully reproduced by Tenniel so I really can't take a lot of credit.
I can't get over the illustrations in nature, Susan! My inner artist child is jumping up and down! LOVE it!
Thanks so much for sharing these. :)
CV -I have done quite a few of these, the Alice ones are mostly in May of 2009, although....more to come soon. Looking for Spring flowers as environments.
Alice and the knight--are beautiful. There is a gauzy shaft of light == perfect timing
judging the folded arms, the white knight is gonna hafta work a little harder to woo Ali.
simply great!
The knight is wonderfully designed, but I love his equipment.
I love Alice...
