...they began running when they liked, and left off when they liked, so that it was not easy to know when the race was over. However, when they had been running for half an hour or so, and were quite dry again, the Dodo suddenly called out, "The race is over!"I'm straying pretty far from Tennyson, since the Caucus race was never pictured. The prompt for illustration friday was parade, and since I had gotten to this point in the story, I figured it was close enough.

The shadows, again... the Californian sun is your ally...
Cool - great combination of photographic background and shadows (how did you do that?) and the line drawn characters. Good work.
the depth and elongated shadows are genius...i'm captured by the countenances...their faces...their motion...stance in...Alice's eyebrows make her beautiful and very womanlike...but certainly a diligent on-going girl...
could write more....
i'm really enjoying this series of the black & white doodled figures with a realistic background - nice contrast!
Yes, the shadows are
way happening
those delicate little shadows and
earnest chorus line sprinters
I love the shadows. Your visual creativity has no limits, does it Susan?
I love this piece (and your others below)--there is something intriguing created by the everyday background, the characters, and, of course, the shadows. This mix challenges our sense of reality, eloquently touching on the mystery of our existence.
; )
stared at this for quite some time, loved every second of it!
how I love the mouse in this series.....hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Very clever...It does remind me of 'Where the Wild Things Are'.
What's a monday without a smile...you made my day!

Is it wrong to call these paper dolls deluxe? I love the way they run amok through the "real world."
love the way the shadows bring your drawings to life
Absoluty great, Susan. I love the whole Alice´s serie.
Love this series. The shadows add to the image.
Lovely! The shadows add to the allure. Too bad, the rat race for survival had ended for Dodo.
