Edward Gorey Hommage/Alice in Wonderland

My imagining of what an Edward Gorey illustration for Alice in Wonderland would have looked like. Alice Calendars are up at redbubble (see button at right).

February and March 2010 I will be posting a new Alice photo series: previous Alice in Wonderland photos in the May 2009 archive. All will be in my book Dreaming Alice, publishing on March 15, 2010

That's great! But what I'm looking for: Illustrations as Art Sparker would make them without knowing Tenniel. This one is a step into the right direction.

Can only echo TFE here; the prosaic Alice is masterly.

You've nailed it, right down to Alice's expression which is pure Gorey! Has the hatter got vague overtones of Johnny Depp... or more to the point, have Depp and Burton channelled Gorey like you have done SO well!

Wow - so much going on there. Alice looks very guilty for some reason, and the Cheshire cat seems to be finding it all very amusing as usual.

Do love your -his- work, too! -Jayne

Very clever. I had to look him up. Realized at once he's the illustrator of the PBS "Mystery' series though I double checked youtube to make sure.

CG - It's so cool that they have been using that sequence for something thirty years. He's timeless.

That just rocks. I love Gorey. And your reimagining of him.

You ever seen the Ralph Steadman A in W?
