Here is the Tenniel illustration interacting with a chameleon subbing for the caterpillar - and here is the original post. For those who can't get enough of reptiles perched on eminences, there are a couple of pictures on my flickr site you might enjoy.

That is brilliant! And what a gorgeous colour the chameleon has chosen to be!
Actually, I can't get enough of reptiles perched on eminences. Do you have one with Cardinal Sin?
Funny, I love what Titus said..LOL..I love this one.
I imagine the caterpillar was pleased to have a respite - and I love your fearsome newts!
You got that one just right. I love the color of the Chameleon. Makes it seem rather wonderlandish already.
caterpillars love a day off when they can get one! This is pretty!
oh I love chameleons !!!
hugh Kathrin
have a nice week !!!
Kameeleons are much nicer than Katerpilaaz.
This is the part where I stopped last night (and couldn't go further before "chewing" it a little bit longer):
""Who are you?" said the Caterpillar. (....)
Alice replied, rather shyly, "I - I hardly know, sir, just at present - at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.""
C- One enneagram book I have has quotes by famous people of the different types. Ann Lindbergh (poet and wife of the aviator) is quoted as having said "It's amusing how many different climates of feeling one can pass through in a day".
I just wished people around me wouldn't be so disturbed by my one-day-cycle of winter, spring, autumn and summer! It's not that I like it, it just that I am it.
I was going to congratulate you on your reptilian arts and crafts skills. But it seems to be a real animal. I think. The fact that I'm not sure shows the quality of your art. Or that I haven't seen many reptiles.
Chris- It's actually a little plastic one I purchased, so the only credit I can take for it is my discriminating eye.
Love this. I always dug the hookah smoking caterpillar when I was little. Loved the ride @ Disneyland too. One of my favorites. Remember the voice of caterpillar in the Disney movie? A not so well known character actor who was primarily known for his voice...had to look it up: Richard Haydn.
"Whoooo arrre youuuu?
